Clinical denial trends are worsening. Aspirion’s clients, including over 1000 facilities nationwide, have seen an average increase in clinical denials of 15-20 percent. Two denial types, in particular, are becoming more prevalent, 1) diagnosis-related group (DRG) downgrades, and 2) denials not well-defined by the payer, requiring in-depth analysis, a.k.a. ghost denials. As these denials continue to increase, providers are taking notice and searching for solutions.
